Aerospace engineering and operations technologists and technicians operate, install, adjust, and maintain integrated computer/communications systems, consoles, simulators, and other data acquisition, test, and measurement instruments and equipment, which are used to launch, track, position, and evaluate air and space vehicles. They record and interpret test data.
How to become an aerospace engineering technician? The basic eligibility is to complete high school in the science stream and a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. Aerospace engineering degrees typically include a lot of math, science, and aerospace engineering, classes. The candidate must obtain a good rank in JEE mains and JEE advanced to get admission to top engineering colleges in India. Subsequently, one may apply for a license in Aircraft maintenance engineering, by clearing exams under DGCA. For a Master’s degree in Aerospace, one needs to clear the gate exam to get into top institutes like the IIT.
As an aerospace engineering and operations technician, one has to work in the various fields of research, testing production and maintenance. The prerequisite skills essential include analytical skills, great communication skills, IT, Numeracy, problem-solving and much more. These skills are all inculcated during B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering course.
The average annual aerospace technician salary may differ across countries. Some jobs which pay a high aerospace technician salary are airline pilots, copilots, aerospace project engineers, aircraft maintenance managers and aeroplane mechanics.

Tasks
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and operate test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Record and interpret test data on parts, assemblies, and mechanisms.
- Confer with engineering personnel regarding details and implications of test procedures and results.
- Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of test setups and equipment.
- Identify required data, data acquisition plans, and test parameters, setting up equipment to conform to these specifications.
- Construct and maintain test facilities for aircraft parts and systems, according to specifications.
- Operate and calibrate computer systems and devices to comply with test requirements and to perform data acquisition and analysis.
- Test aircraft systems under simulated operational conditions, performing systems readiness tests and pre- and post-operational checkouts, to establish design or fabrication parameters.
- Fabricate and install parts and systems to be tested in test equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.
- Finish vehicle instrumentation and deinstrumentation.
