Atmospheric and Space Scientists
Atmospheric and space scientists investigate atmospheric phenomena and interpret meteorological data, gathered by surface and air stations, satellites, and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for public and other uses. This includes weather analysts and forecasters whose functions require detailed knowledge of meteorology.
An atmospheric and space scientist's skills involve providing technical information or assistance to the public, collecting environmental data or samples, measuring environmental characteristics, developing tourism models of physical phenomena and interpreting research or operational data.
An aspiring candidate for an atmospheric science job is required to possess a master’s degree in cosmology, physics, astronomy, astrophysics, solar physics, meteorology or other equivalent qualification relevant to space science, electronics and allied fields.
Space scientists typically ask questions, conduct research, and use science tounderstand better how and why things happen in our universe. Their goal is to promote awareness to applied to technology development in many fields.
Space scientists find work on the ground, at weather stations, or from an aircraft. Space scientists also work at radio or television stations or from station studios while working at nights and on weekends.
Successful atmospheric and space scientist's skills require them to be analytical, great communicators, and possess mathematics and problem-solving skills. An average atmospheric and space scientists salary depends on the mastery of scientific scrutiny, ability to use robotic arms, leadership and teamwork are advantageous.

Tasks
- Broadcast weather conditions, forecasts, or severe weather warnings to the public via television, radio, or the Internet or provide this information to the news media.
- Gather data from sources such as surface or upper air stations, satellites, weather bureaus, or radar for use in meteorological reports or forecasts.
- Prepare forecasts or briefings to meet the needs of industry, business, government, or other groups.
- Measure wind, temperature, and humidity in the upper atmosphere, using weather balloons.
- Direct forecasting services at weather stations or at radio or television broadcasting facilities.
- Collect air samples from planes or ships over land or sea to study atmospheric composition.
- Conduct numerical simulations of climate conditions to understand and predict global or regional weather patterns.
- Design or develop new equipment or methods for meteorological data collection, remote sensing, or related applications.
- Analyze climate data sets, using techniques such as geophysical fluid dynamics, data assimilation, or numerical modeling.
- Conduct wind assessment, integration, or validation studies.
