In bakers’ careers, bakers bake in production ovens or on grills by placing the dough in pans, moulds, or on sheets. They place items into hot ovens for baking and set oven temperatures.
Baker jobs require measuring or weighing flour or other ingredients to prepare batters and doughs, combining the measured ingredients in bowls of mixing or blending, mixing or cooking ingredients according to instructions by setting the time and speed controls for mixing machines or blending machines and checking products for quality. Bakers decorate baked goods, such as cakes or pastries, coordinate bakery deliveries, operate slicing or wrapping machines and develop new recipes for baked goods.
One can start a baker's career by obtaining a high school diploma with previous work-related skills, knowledge or experience to become a baker. The skills required are coordination, critical thinking, time management, judgement and decision making, monitoring and communications.
