Biochemists and Biophysicists
Biochemists and biophysicists study the chemical composition or physical principles of living cells and organisms, their electrical and mechanical energy, and related phenomena. They may conduct research to further understand the complex chemical combinations and reactions involved in metabolism, reproduction, growth, and heredity. They also determine the effects of foods, drugs, serums, hormones, and other substances on tissues and vital processes of living organisms.
Biophysicists' job descriptions include studying the chemical processes and transformations in living organisms, while biophysicists apply the theories and methods of physics to questions of biology.
How to become a biophysicist?
Individuals who are qualified in biophysics are called biophysicists. Those of you who aspire to become biochemists in India must be permanent residents of the country. You must be at least 17 years old when you apply for the course. You are required to pass class 12th with all the three science subjects. After finishing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (3 years), you can pursue a master of science in biochemistry- a 2 years degree.
As a biochemist, you will find jobs with private medical institutions and pharmaceutical firms. You can get into teaching, as a lecturer in colleges or other institutions. You can also pursue your career as a scientist, officer of research and chemical examiner. Biochemist salaries vary drastically based on skills, experience, location and position.
To be successful in the biochemist job description, one should be skilled at conducting scientific experiments and analyses with accuracy and precision. Strong communication skills are desirable.
