Among the various tasks performed in carpet installer jobs, some include meeting with customers to judge their carpeting requirements, laying out carpet models for client choice, providing customers with accurate quotes based on their requirements and stock prices, cutting and trimming the carpet to fit along wall ends, concluding the edges with a wall trimer, inspecting the surface to be covered to determine its condition, and correcting any faultiness that might show through the carpet or cause a carpet to wear unevenly, and ordering stock from the warehouse and arranging a fitting day with the customer.
Carpet installation workers must possess knowledge of customer and personal service, mathematics, administration, management, and building and construction.
The education requirements for new carpet installation workers include a high school diploma. They must also have previous work experience as carpet installers.
Abilities that are required to perform this job include extent flexibility (the ability to bend, stretch and twist your body), problem sensitivity (being able to detect a problem), near vision and static strength (ability to exert maximum muscle force to carry objects).
