Cashiers
Cashiers receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions. They use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. They process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks.
Cashiers are responsible for processing cash, debit, credit and check transactions using a cash register. Cashier jobs entail reconciling records of sales or other financial transactions, processing sales or other transactions, answering customer questions about goods or services, explaining technical product or service information to customers and calculating the cost of goods and services.
Cashiers generally have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must pass high school exams in any subject from any recognised board or university. Many universities and colleges provide professional degree courses to become bank cashiers.
The career objective for cashier and proficiencies include basic maths knowledge, efficiency and time management, interpersonal communication, knowledge of the product, telephone etiquette‘s, strong customer service skills, ability to resolve disputes and dependability.
Cashier jobs and duties involve processing payments from customers purchasing goods and services. Most cashiers find employment at retail establishments, such as grocery stores, gasoline stations, and other general merchandise stores. Cashiers are trained on the job.
The cashier's salary is commensurate to the skills, experience and location of the bank or firm.
To be successful, cashiers should specialize in cash handling, learn tech skills to adapt to the modern ways of working, pay attention to detail and keep a helpful and courteous approach.

Tasks
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
- Greet customers entering establishments.
- Establish or identify prices of goods, services, or admission, and tabulate bills, using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
- Issue trading stamps and redeem food stamps and coupons.
- Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
- Cash checks for customers.
- Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices.
- Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
