Commercial Divers
Commercial divers work below the surface of the water, using surface-supplied air or scuba equipment to inspect, repair, remove, or install equipment and structures. They use a variety of power and hand tools, such as drills, sledgehammers, torches, and welding equipment. They conduct tests or experiments, rig explosives, or photograph structures or marine life.

The commercial divers job description is to mostly work for construction, engineering, shipping, and oil companies. They commonly work for offshore oil, gas exploration and production companies. There are varied areas you can work in as a commercial diver, such as construction, retrieval, maintenance, inspection, welding, repairs, deep-sea exploration, and photography.
How to become a commercial diver? They have a passion for water and pose a great physical and mental strength. One must hold a certificate of recreational diving proficiency and be able to swim competently. It is highly desirable to hold a first-aid certificate and be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or oxygen administration.
Commercial divers salary is contingent on the experience and skill set of an individual. has a category called construction divers who inspect, maintain, repair, construct or dismantle underwater structures. This includes intact testing, underwater welding, video and imaging equipment, conducting surveys, repairs etc.

Tasks
- Communicate with workers on the surface while underwater, using signal lines or telephones.
- Take appropriate safety precautions, such as monitoring dive lengths and depths and registering with authorities before diving expeditions begin.
- Check and maintain diving equipment, such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harnesses, or gauges.
- Descend into water with the aid of diver helpers, using scuba gear or diving suits.
- Obtain information about diving tasks and environmental conditions.
- Inspect and test docks, ships, buoyage systems, plant intakes or outflows, or underwater pipelines, cables, or sewers, using closed circuit television, still photography, and testing equipment.
- Repair ships, bridge foundations, or other structures below the water line, using caulk, bolts, and hand tools.
- Cut and weld steel, using underwater welding equipment, jigs, and supports.
- Recover objects by placing rigging around sunken objects, hooking rigging to crane lines, and operating winches, derricks, or cranes to raise objects.
- Install pilings or footings for piers or bridges.
