Electrical and Electronic Equipment Assemblers
Electrical and electronic equipment assemblers assemble or modify electrical or electronic equipment, such as computers, test equipment telemetering systems, electric motors, and batteries.
An electronic equipment assembler's job is to mount, connect, assemble and secure parts and components of electronic equipment.
An electronic assembler brings together the pieces of equipment we use every day, such as computers, electronic devices, toys, and engines. Electronic assemblers know a wide range of electronics like computer circuit boards, transmitters, electronic assembly equipment, receivers, medical equipment, measuring devices, and automotive mechanisms.
They accomplish complex jobs, working on dozens of electronic components like resistors, transistors, wires, connectors, CPU sockets, battery connectors, and power connectors, to mention a few. Electronic assemblers work as part of an assembly line or production facility, assembling and fabricating electronic products, meeting very precise specifications and using different tools.
The electronic equipment assembler's job range from fairly basic and easy assembly to complicated tasks that require advanced knowledge and experience. They work with the designers and engineers in product development and read detailed blueprints using schematics. Electronic assemblers ensure product quality, mount and fasten parts, align and adjust small components, and connect complex wiring.
They work in shifts at an assembly or manufacturing plant. Electronics assemblers jobs require a high school diploma with coursework in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
To become a successful electronic assembler, certain skills are required including operations monitoring, coordination, critical thinking and communications.

Tasks
- Inspect or test wiring installations, assemblies, or circuits for resistance factors or for operation and record results.
- Assemble electrical or electronic systems or support structures and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, soldering or micro-welding equipment.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Clean parts, using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths.
- Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
- Mark and tag components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified.
- Position, align, or adjust workpieces or electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly.
- Pack finished assemblies for shipment and transport them to storage areas, using hoists or handtrucks.
- Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems.
- Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.
