Energy Auditors
Energy auditors conduct energy audits of buildings, building systems, or process systems. They also conduct investment grade audits of buildings or systems.
The energy auditor's jobs include identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, assessing the cost-effectiveness of products, projects or services, inspecting facilities or equipment to ensure specifications are met, analyzing risk related to investment in green technology and preparing financial documents, and reports or budgets.
To qualify for an energy auditor career, one should graduate in engineering with a post-graduate degree in management or equivalent with two years of work experience involving energy in maintenance, planning and operation. Candidates without work experience are not eligible to register for the energy auditor exam.
The required qualification for a certified energy auditor would be passing a national-level energy auditor exam, which will be conducted under the aegis of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
Energy audit and management objectives are climate protection, cost-saving, energy-saving, and resource conservation while the users have permanent access to the energy they need.
Successful energy auditors possess some key skills of having the ability to work under pressure, the capability to meet deadlines, the ability to work on their initiative and as a part of a team, paying meticulous attention to detail, having an aptitude for maths, excellent problem-solving skills, a keen interest in the financial system and strong IT skills to earn a seven-figure energy auditor salary in India.

Tasks
- Measure energy usage with devices such as data loggers, universal data recorders, light meters, sling psychrometers, psychrometric charts, flue gas analyzers, amp probes, watt meters, volt meters, thermometers, or utility meters.
- Perform tests such as blower-door tests to locate air leaks.
- Inspect or evaluate building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system.
- Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results or recommendations for energy cost savings.
- Analyze energy bills, including utility rates or tariffs, to gather historical energy usage data.
- Analyze technical feasibility of energy-saving measures, using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, or process systems.
- Calculate potential for energy savings.
- Collect and analyze field data related to energy usage.
- Compare existing energy consumption levels to normative data.
- Determine patterns of building use to show annual or monthly needs for heating, cooling, lighting, or other energy needs.
