Epidemiologists
Epidemiologists investigate and describe the determinants and distribution of disease, disability, or health outcomes. They may develop the means for prevention and control.
Epidemiologists typically perform tasks such as planning and directing studies of public health problems to find ways to prevent and treat them if they arise, communicating their findings to health practitioners, policymakers, and the public, managing public health programs by planning programs, and seeking ways to improve programs to improve public health outcomes, and supervising professional, technical, and clerical personnel.
The epidemiologist jobs in India generally work in applied community health or research. Applied epidemiologists work for the government, addressing public health complications directly. Research epidemiologists generally work for universities or in affiliation with national agencies. Epidemiologists may also work in clinical surroundings or in the field, where they back emergencies. Most epidemiologists devote their time to learning data and reports in office settings.
How to become an epidemiologist? Epidemiologists need a master’s diploma from an accredited college or university. Most have a master’s diploma in community health or a linked field, and some have accomplished a doctoral diploma in epidemiology or medicine.
Epidemiologists have a tendency to be predominantly analytical individuals, which means that they are rather inquisitive persons that usually like to spend time by themselves with their thoughts. They also tend to be social and thrive in circumstances where they can intermingle with, influence, or help people.
To excel in the field and earn a good epidemiologist salary ,one must possess communication, critical thinking, math, statistical and teaching skills. They must also be detail-oriented.

Tasks
- Oversee public health programs, including statistical analysis, health care planning, surveillance systems, and public health improvement.
- Investigate diseases or parasites to determine cause and risk factors, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission.
- Plan and direct studies to investigate human or animal disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease.
- Plan, administer and evaluate health safety standards and programs to improve public health, conferring with health department, industry personnel, physicians, and others.
- Provide expertise in the design, management and evaluation of study protocols and health status questionnaires, sample selection, and analysis.
- Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation, and procedures for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings.
- Consult with and advise physicians, educators, researchers, government health officials and others regarding medical applications of sciences, such as physics, biology, and chemistry.
- Supervise professional, technical, and clerical personnel.
- Identify and analyze public health issues related to foodborne parasitic diseases and their impact on public policies, scientific studies, or surveys.
- Teach principles of medicine and medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and technicians.
