Certified fraud examiners obtain evidence, take statements, produce reports, and testify to findings regarding the resolution of fraud allegations. They can coordinate fraud detection and prevention activities as well.
A certified fraud examiner will be responsible to assemble data for all investigative activities,
Preparing written reports as per that data, analyzing financial data to detect irregularities in areas such as billing trends, financial relationships, and regulatory compliance procedures. Their job duties include interviewing witnesses or suspects and taking statements, reviewing reports of suspected fraud to determine the need for further investigation, then conducting in-depth investigations of suspicious financial activity.
Preparing evidence for presentation in court, coordinating investigative efforts with law enforcement officers and attorneys, testifying in court regarding investigation findings, recommending actions in fraud cases, evaluating business operations to identify risk areas for fraud are all part of the job role of association of certified fraud examiner. Also, create and maintain logs about fraudulent activity, maintain knowledge of current events, advise businesses or agencies on ways to improve fraud detection, provide training, design, implement, or maintain fraud detection tools, and research or evaluate new technologies for use in fraud detection systems all fall under the responsibility of certified fraud examiners.
Proper knowledge of the law & government regulations, economics & accounting, computer & electronics, and mathematics are required to be successful in this position. Good communication and listening skills are essential to be a certified fraud examiner.
