What does a Geoscientist do? Geoscientists study and work with minerals, soil, energy resources, fossils, weather, environmental chemistry, and biology. They also study rocks, the moon, and other planets in our solar system. Their daily tasks include planning and conducting geochemical, geological, surveys, and sample collection, testing programs to collect data for research, and application, identify risks for natural disasters etc.
Candidates who want to pursue a career in this field must have a Bachelor’s Degree followed by a Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Geoscience or related field. To become a successful Geoscientist, the applicant must have good knowledge of Geography, English, Maths, Chemistry, and Physics with skills such as reading comprehension, critical thinking, active listening, oral comprehension, analyzing data or information etc.
The geoscientist salary depends on the experience gained in the career. Some of the career options in this field are - Volcanologist, Hydrologist, Project Geologist, Engineering Geologist, Environmental Protection Geologist etc.
