Manually move freight, stock, luggage, or other materials, or perform other general labor. Includes all manual laborers not elsewhere classified.
Material Movers job includes moving stuffs to and from the storage production areas, loading docks, delivery trucks, ships, and containers. Their daily tasks include sorting cargo before loading and unloading, reading work orders, or receiving oral instructions, determining work assignments, and equipment needs.
Besides that, to pursue a career as a freight mover, the candidate has to complete their High School Diploma, followed by work experience in the respective field. Candidates must have good technical skills with proficiency in software, such as- Palm OS, Data entry software, Oracle, Spreadsheet Softwares etc.
The abilities that are required for freight movers job are - static and trunk strength, multilimb coordination, control precision, handling and moving objects, manual dexterity etc. The selection process includes- Face to Face Discussions, followed by a personal interview.

Tasks
- Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
- Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
- Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
- Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
- Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use.
- Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
- Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
