Packers and packagers (hand) pack or package by hand a wide variety of products and materials.
Packers and packagers, hand, package a variety of materials manually. They perform basic quality control checks including measuring, weighing, strength testing, package counts, and evaluating products for defects or package appearance as per specifications. Picker packer’s job requires them to hand fold and tapes boxes; mark and label containers using marking tools; keep records of items packed; load materials into package processing equipment; pour products into containers using hand tools and equipment, or fill containers from spouts or chutes; stack boxes on pallets according to directions; and clean containers or work areas using cleaning solutions and hand tools.
Although no formal education is required for a packer's job, some packagers have a high school diploma or equivalent. Most packagers learn in a few days from their supervisors or other experienced workers.
Pickers and packers typically report to a supervisor or manager. They possess a moderate understanding of the general aspects of the job. Some day-to-day skills for executing the packer's career efficiently include packaging and labelling, packing, and counting/weighing.
Packers' salaries range in four-five digits and they work at varied places, from large shipping transportation corporations, packing materials for shipment and moving them to a loading dock, to grocery stores, bagging groceries for customers at checkout.

- Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
- Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
- Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
- Remove completed or defective products or materials, placing them on moving equipment, such as conveyors, or in specified areas, such as loading docks.
- Seal containers or materials, using glues, fasteners, nails, and hand tools.
- Load materials and products into package processing equipment.
- Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers, using hand tools.
- Clean containers, materials, supplies, or work areas, using cleaning solutions and hand tools.
- Transport packages to customers' vehicles.
- Place or pour products or materials into containers, using hand tools and equipment, or fill containers from spouts or chutes.
