Physics Teachers, Postsecondary
Physics teachers (postsecondary) teach courses pertaining to the laws of matter and energy. This includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research.
Physics teacher's are responsible for evaluating student work, developing instructional materials, assessing educational needs approaches, preparing tests and teaching physical science or mathematics courses at the college level.
To be eligible for the role of a physics professor, an aspiring candidate should earn a degree in physical science or a related discipline. Mostly, postsecondary physics teachers have a Ph.D. in the relevant field, though some colleges may require only a masters degree. Technical teaching certification and tutoring experience with familiarity with different teaching styles are advantageous.
The key competencies one should have are literacy in physics teacher jobs, teaching and education articulacy, scientific and humanistic proficiency, information learnedness, and life-long learning ability. One must possess a strong multitasking ability with patience, innovation, and knowledge of classroom management and student discipline.
A physics teacher's salary is commensurate to the role, skillsets, years of experience, location and the college which employs them.
To be successful as a physics teacher, you should be passionate about science and have a sound understanding of scientific rules and methods. Outstanding candidates have superb instructional skills, can keep calm, and try their best to leave no student behind.

Tasks
- Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers.
- Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as quantum mechanics, particle physics, and optics.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Supervise students' laboratory work.
- Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
- Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
