Postal Service Mail Carriers
Sort and deliver mail for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Deliver mail on established routes by vehicle or foot. The postal service mail carriers are employed by USPS contractors.
The Postal service job responsibilities is to deliver mail to homes and businesses in cities, towns, and rural areas. They hand over the posts by foot, vehicle or a combination of both. They are otherwise called Postman or Mailman. Some of the significant job titles are Letter Carrier, City Mail Carrier, Rural Route Carrier, City Carrier Assistant etc.
To pursue a career in this field, less education with good command of English is required. Their tasks include scanning labels on letters and parcels to confirm receipt, sorting mail for delivery, postal service mail forwarding, completing necessary paperwork etc.
To be successful at Postal Service jobs, one must have great technology skills in Office Suite, Word Processing Software, Database user interface, ERP Software etc. They must also have excellent communication skills with active listening, social perceptiveness, category flexibility, and oral comprehension.
Having good educational qualifications, mainly High School Diploma with some previous work experience can get an excellent postal service mail carrier salary. Popular careers in this field are - Mail Clerks, Distribution clerks, Mail sorters, and processors.

Tasks
- Obtain signed receipts for registered, certified, and insured mail, collect associated charges, and complete any necessary paperwork.
- Sort mail for delivery, arranging it in delivery sequence.
- Deliver mail to residences and business establishments along specified routes by walking or driving, using a combination of satchels, carts, cars, and small trucks.
- Return to the post office with mail collected from homes, businesses, and public mailboxes.
- Turn in money and receipts collected along mail routes.
- Sign for cash-on-delivery and registered mail before leaving the post office.
- Record address changes and redirect mail for those addresses.
- Hold mail for customers who are away from delivery locations.
- Bundle mail in preparation for delivery or transportation to relay boxes.
- Leave notices telling patrons where to collect mail that could not be delivered.
