Retail Salespersons
Retail salespersons sell merchandise, such as furniture, motor vehicles, appliances, or apparel to consumers.
A retail salesperson's job descriptions are the link between a product and a prospective buyer. They are expected to know enough about the product to convince potential buyers of its’ benefits. Their main responsibilities include greeting and interacting with customers, understanding customer needs, showcasing or demonstrating product use, answering all queries and closing sales.
Retail salespersons are tasked with ensuring high customer satisfaction rates. They must build a trustful relationship with customers and show product knowledge and enthusiasm to drive sales. Other duties of a salesperson may include inventory management, maintaining sales records, billing customers, arranging product delivery, cleaning display areas of products, and using the cash register.
The retail salesperson education requirements are high school qualifications in sales subjects is enough to get salesperson jobs, some companies prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field. Experience in retail sales and proven sales records are highly valued. Retail salesperson experience is also useful to later work in marketing or operations departments.
Salesperson jobs are common in apparel, electronics and other small items stores and earn four-five digits of retail salesperson salary. While retail salespersons are present across all other industries, specialist training and product knowledge may be required to work. Such retail stores include cars, furniture, jewellery, etc.
To be successful in a salesperson job, one should have excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and customer service skills are also important.

Tasks
- Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
- Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payment.
- Maintain records related to sales.
- Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
- Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
- Ticket, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales.
