Roofers
Roofers cover roofs of structures with shingles, slate, asphalt, aluminium, wood, or related materials. They spray roofs, sidings, and walls with material to bind, seal, insulate, or soundproof sections of structures.
Roofer's job duties is to do roof jobs, including repairing roofs. They inspect problem roofs to determine the best repair procedures, remove snow, water, or debris from roofs, apply roofing materials, set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs, and estimate materials and labour required. The Roofing job description involves cementing flashing strips of metal over joints to make them watertight, installing partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, applying plastic coatings over sloped roofs before applying shingles, waterproof roofs by spraying surfaces with waterproof coatings, applying alternate layers of hot asphalt and roofing paper to roofs and glaze top layers to make a smooth finish.
Roofer professions require a high school diploma with previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience. The skills required include coordination, critical thinking, monitoring, operation and control, communication and time management.
Roofers require building and construction knowledge, safety and security, design, mathematical, mechanical, administration and education, and customer service.
Roofers are exposed to high places, work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions, spend time bending or twisting their bodies, work in cramped spaces in awkward positions, and be exposed to loud noises. The roofer job salary depends on education skills and experience.

- Cut felt, shingles, or strips of flashing to fit angles formed by walls, vents, or intersecting roof surfaces.
- Install vapor barriers or layers of insulation on flat roofs.
- Cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage or rust.
- Install partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, using chalk lines, gauges on shingling hatchets, or lines on shingles.
- Cover roofs or exterior walls of structures with slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, or other tools.
