Veterinarians diagnose, treat, or research diseases and injuries of animals. This includes veterinarians who conduct research and development, inspect livestock, or care for pets and companion animals.

How to become a veterinarian? To be eligible for a Bachelor's in Veterinary Science, a candidate should pass the class 12 examinations with PCM subjects. College admissions entrance exams are conducted by the university concerned and admissions are based on that. Subsequently, a master's degree in veterinary science with a specialisation in an area can be done.
With the rapid growth in science and technology, many veterinarian career options have opened to graduates in veterinary science. A candidate can find a job as a veterinarian in large-scale dairy, piggery and poultry farms and dairy research institutes that require the assistance of multiple veterinarians and can start attaining a five-digit veterinarian salary in India.
Practising a veterinarian career requires some serious dedication to the field. To be successful in the job as a veterinarian, you should have some natural attributes. You should have the ability to handle emotional and physical stress and the skill to talk with people, especially the pet owners, instructing them to become better owners, and teaching them general medical care and routine vaccines for animals.

Tasks
- Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
- Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgery.
- Inoculate animals against various diseases, such as rabies or distemper.
- Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis.
- Operate diagnostic equipment, such as radiographic or ultrasound equipment, and interpret the resulting images.
- Educate the public about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans.
- Train or supervise workers who handle or care for animals.
- Provide care to a wide range of animals or specialize in a particular species, such as horses or exotic birds.
- Euthanize animals.
- Establish or conduct quarantine or testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans and that comply with applicable government regulations.
